Step 1: Job Offer and Contract

  • Secure a job offer from a company registered in Dubai.
  • Sign an employment contract specifying terms and conditions of employment, including salary, benefits, and duration of employment.

Step 2: Employer’s Application for Work Permit

  • The employer applies for a work permit (labor card) on your behalf at the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE).
  • The employer must provide necessary documents including the employment contract, your qualifications, and passport copy.

Step 3: Medical Examination

  • Undergo a medical examination at an approved medical center in Dubai.
  • The medical examination typically includes tests for infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.

Step 4: Visa Application

  • Once the work permit is approved, the employer applies for a residence visa (entry permit) for you through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai.
  • The visa application requires additional documents such as passport copies, medical fitness certificate, and proof of accommodation.

Step 5: Emirates ID Registration

  • Upon arrival in Dubai, apply for an Emirates ID card at an Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA) center.
  • The Emirates ID card serves as an official identification document in the UAE.

Step 6: Biometric Data and Health Insurance

  • Provide biometric data (fingerprint and photograph) at a typing center approved by GDRFA.
  • Obtain health insurance coverage as mandated by Dubai Health Authority (DHA).

Step 7: Residence Visa Issuance

  • If the visa application is approved, GDRFA issues a residence visa allowing you to live and work in Dubai.
  • The residence visa is typically valid for one to three years and renewable.

Step 8: Labor Card and Employment Contract

  • Receive the labor card (work permit) issued by MOHRE through your employer.
  • Ensure that your employment contract and labor card are in compliance with UAE labor laws and regulations.

Step 9: Work and Residence in Dubai

  • Begin working for the employer as specified in the employment contract.
  • Adhere to Dubai labor laws, including working hours, annual leave entitlements, and other employment rights.
  • Renew your residence visa and labor card before expiry, if necessary.

Step 10: Pathway to Permanent Residency

  • After residing in Dubai for a certain period of time (usually ten years), you may be eligible to apply for permanent residency (long-term residence visa).
  • Permanent residency allows you to live and work in Dubai indefinitely.
