Step 1: Job Offer and Employer Application

  • Secure a job offer from a Polish employer.
  • The employer applies for a work permit on your behalf at the local Voivodeship Office or electronically through the Electronic Platform for Public Administration Services (ePUAP).

Step 2: Employer’s Application Submission

  • The employer submits the required documents, including the job offer, your qualifications, and proof of efforts to hire locally, to the relevant authorities.
  • The application must demonstrate that there are no suitable candidates available in the local labor market for the position.

Step 3: Work Permit Approval

  • The Voivodeship Office reviews the application and makes a decision on the work permit.
  • If approved, the Voivodeship Office issues a work permit for a specific duration and employer.

Step 4: Visa Application (For Non-EU Citizens)

  • If you are a non-EU citizen, apply for a National Visa (D-Type Visa) for the purpose of work at the Polish consulate or embassy in your home country.
  • The visa application requires documents such as passport, work permit, employment contract, and proof of accommodation in Poland.

Step 5: Residence Permit Application

  • Upon arrival in Poland, apply for a temporary residence permit for the purpose of work at the Voivodeship Office.
  • The residence permit application includes documents such as passport, work permit, employment contract, health insurance, and proof of accommodation in Poland.

Step 6: Biometric Data Submission

  • Schedule an appointment to provide biometric data (fingerprints and photograph) at the Voivodeship Office or at a designated facility.

Step 7: Residence Permit Issuance

  • If the application is approved, the Voivodeship Office issues a temporary residence permit allowing you to legally reside and work in Poland.
  • The residence permit is usually valid for the duration of the work permit.

Step 8: Work and Residence in Poland

  • Begin working for the employer as specified in the work permit.
  • Ensure compliance with Polish labor laws and regulations.
  • Renew both the work permit and residence permit before they expire, if necessary.

Step 9: Permanent Residency or Citizenship

  • After residing in Poland for a certain period of time (usually five years), you may be eligible to apply for permanent residency.
  • Permanent residency allows you to live and work in Poland indefinitely.
  • After further residency, you may also be eligible to apply for Polish citizenship.
